This document describes how to install and configure the printer driver,
to ensure that the FIT FP-1000 Raster printer can be used in a Microsoft Windows
environment. The document also describes points to note about installing
and configuring the driver.

This printer driver is for FP-1000 Raster printers.
Do not use with other printers.
When printing using Windows, change the printer settings back to
the factory default.
Otherwise the printer may not function as expected.

2. Printer driver configuration
================================
FP-1000 Raster printer driver is composed of the following files:

3. Printer driver setup
========================
-----------------
3.1 Before setup
-----------------
- Prepare the following for setup:
    FIT FP-1000 Raster setup disk (this disk)

- When setting up, log on with an Administrator account.

- It is impossible to install a substitute driver for the FP-1000 Raster
  printer driver.

- Before setting up, go to System Properties, select [ignore] or [warn]
  for the "file signature verification" at the driver signature options.

- When installing the printer driver, do not select [share].

- If the FIT FP-1000 Raster printer driver has already been set up,
  delete it and set up again.

- Connect a interface cable and turn on the printer.

- When "Found New Hardware Wizard" was displayed, and set it in the
  following procedures.
    a. Check "No, not this time", and click [Next].

    b. Check "install the software automatically", and click [Next].

    c. Check "Don't prompt me again to install this software",
       and click [Finish].

- When using a Windows printer driver via the LAN,you need to configure 
@the LAN information and create a original TCP/IP ports for this printer.
@You can configure these settings easily by using the "Printer LAN Settings Tool".

3.2 for Windows XP, WEPOS, WEPOS 2009
-------------------------

3.2.1 for Windows XP Professional, WEPOS, WEPOS 2009
----------------------------------------
Set up the printer by running the Add Printer Wizard.
The procedure described here assumes that Windows XP is already running.


  a. Click the [Start] button,and then click [Printers and Faxes].

  b. Double-click [Add Printer].

  c. The [Add Printer Wizard] appears. Click [Next].

  d. Select "Local printer attached to this computer", un-check 
     "Automatically detect and install my Plug & Play printer", and select
     [Next].

  e. Select a Printer Port and click [Next].
     Click the [Have Disk...] button.

  f. Insert this disk in the CD drive (D:),
     use the [Browse] button to select drive D:\Data\Driver\FP-1000\zh_s
     and click the [OK].(When the CD-drive is D.)

  g. A dialog box appears displaying the model-names.
     Select model of choice and click [Next] to continue.
     NOTE: When the message "Do you want to keep the existing driver or use
           the new one?" Appears, select "Replace existing driver".

  h. A dialog appears prompting the user to type the Printer name. 
     Type an appropriate name or use the one supplied and click [Next].

  i. Specify if the printer will be shared, select "Do not share this printer"
     and click [Next].

  j. The next dialog prompts the user to print a test page.
     Select [No] and click [Next].

  k. To end the wizard, click the [Finish] button.

  l. When the screen [Hardware Installation] appears, select 
     [Continue Anyway].

  m. Restart Windows.

  Then the setup of the printer driver is finished.
  If the printer is set up using this method, the [Found New Hardware]
  window may be displayed when the computer is restarted.
  If this happens, perform the setup procedure again.


3.2.2 for Windows XP Home Edition
----------------------------------
Set up the printer by running the Add Printer Wizard.
The procedure described here assumes that Windows XP is already running.


  a. Click the [Start] button,and then click [Control Panel] ->
     [Printers and Other Hardware].

  b. Double-click [Add Printer].

  c. The [Add Printer Wizard] appears. Click [Next].

  d. Select "Local printer attached to this computer", un-check 
     "Automatically detect and install my Plug & Play printer", and select
     [Next].

  e. Select a Printer Port and click [Next].
     Click the [Have Disk...] button.

  f. Insert this disk in the CD drive (D:),
     use the [Browse] button to select drive D:\Data\Driver\FP-1000\zh_s
     and click the [OK].(When the CD-drive is D.)

  g. A dialog box appears displaying the model-names.
     Select model of choice and click [Next] to continue.

3.3 for Windows Server 2003
----------------------------
Set up the printer by running the Add Printer Wizard.
The procedure described here assumes that Windows Server 2003 is already
running.

  a. Click the [Start] button,and then click [Printers and Faxes].

  c. The [Add Printer Wizard] appears. Click [Next].

     "Automatically detect and install my Plug & Play printer", and select
     [Next].

  f. Insert this disk in the CD drive (D:),
     use the [Browse] button to select drive D:\Data\Driver\FP-1000\zh_s
     and click the [OK].(When the CD-drive is D.)

  g. A dialog box appears displaying the model-names.
     Select model of choice and click [Next] to continue.
     NOTE: When the message "Do you want to keep the existing driver or use
           the new one?" Appears, select "Replace existing driver".

  h. A dialog appears prompting the user to type the Printer name.

3.4 for Windows Vista, Server 2008
-----------------------------------
Set up the printer by running the Add Printer Wizard.
The descriptions assume that the computer is running Windows Vista or
Windows Server 2008 and that User Account Control(UAC) is enabled in the OS.

* The [User Account Control] dialog box may appear during the procedure.
  The dialog box asks for your permission to continue.  Click [Continue].

* [Run as administrator] will not appear on the menu during the
  following procedure if:
  - User Account Control is disabled in the OS.
  - You are in a Windows Server 2008 environment, 
    and you have logged in with a built-in account (Administrator).

  a. Open the Printers folder.
        Windows Vista:
          Select [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Hardware and Sound].
          Then, select [Printers].

        Windows Server 2008:
          Select [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Printers].

     ** In Windows Vista, [Start] is the button with the Windows logo
        at the bottom left corner of the desktop.

  b. Select [Organize] - [Layout].  Then, check [Menu Bar].

  c. Select [File] - [Run as administrator] - [Add Printer].

  d. Select [Add a local printer] when the [Add Printer] wizard is displayed.

  e. Specify which port the printer will connect to, and then click the [Next]
     button.

  f. Select [Have Disk] when the [Install the printer driver] screen is
     displayed.

  g. Insert this disk in the CD drive (D:) and change the path from "A:\" to
     "D:\Data\Driver\FP-1000\zh_s".

     ** In this example, the CD drive is drive D:. 
        If another letter is being used for the CD drive letter,
        change the drive letter accordingly.

  h. Several model names will be displayed in a list box.
     Select the model to be used, and then click the [Next] button.

     ** If "Which version of the driver do you want to use?" is displayed,
        select [Replace the current printer].

  i. When the [Type a printer name] window is displayed,
     enter the printer name (to change the printer name, enter the new
     printer name), make settings for the default printer,
     and then click the [Next] button.

  j. "Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software" will be
     displayed in the [Windows Security] dialog box, but select
     "-> Install this driver software anyway".

  k. The wizard will start copying files.

  l. Specify whether to share the printer.
     Select [Do not share this printer], and then click the [Next] button.

  m. Make sure that "You've successfully added FIT FP-1000 Raster"
     is displayed, and then click the [Finish] button to end the wizard.
     The [Print a test page] button will be displayed, so print a test page if
     necessary.

     ** Make sure that the printer is online when printing test pages.

     ** Notes on printing test pages
        - Test pages are printed according to the current printer driver
          settings.
        - The default settings for the printer driver are "70 x 297mm" 
          for the paper size, so insert paper before printing the test page.
        - To use a non-default paper size, change the settings before printing
          the test page.

  This completes the setup procedure for the printer driver.
  If the printer is set up using this method, the [Found New Hardware]
  window may be displayed when the computer is restarted.
  If this happens, perform the setup procedure again.

3.5 for Windows 7, Server 2008 R2
-----------------------------------
  a. Go to [Start]  [Devices and Printers], and then open the Printer folder.
      ** In Windows 7, [Start] is the button with the Windows logo at the bottom 
         left corner of the desktop.

  b. Select [Add a printer] in [Devices and Printers] Folder.

  c. When the [Add a printer] wizard is displayed.
     For Windows 7
       :Select [Add a local printer].
     For Windows 2008 R2
       :Select [Add a local printer] in the display of "What type of printer do you want to install" appeared
        when  [Add a local or network printer as an adminstrator] is selected.

  d. Specify which port the printer will connect to, and then click the [Next] button.
     
     ** When using the USB Interface, Select "USBxxx".
        When several USB ports are displayed, select the port with large number.

  e. Select [Have Disk] when the [Install the printer driver] screen is displayed."

  f. Insert this disk in the CD drive (D:) and change the path from "A:\" to
     "D:\Data\Driver\FP-1000\zh_s".

     ** In this example, the CD drive is drive D:. 
        If another letter is being used for the CD drive letter,
        change the drive letter accordingly."

     ** When click the [Browse] button, [Locate File] is displayed.
        Select the location where the driver data is stored, and click [FP1000] and [Open] from the displayed file.
        Click [OK] in the screen of [Install From Disk]

  g. Several model names will be displayed in a list box.
     Select [FIT FP-1000 Raster], and then click the [Next] button.
    
     ** If "Which version of the driver do you want to use?" is displayed,
        select [Replace the current printer]."

  h. When the [Type a printer name] window is displayed,
     enter the printer name (to change the printer name, enter the new
     printer name), and then click the [Next] button."

  i. "Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software" will be
     displayed in the [Windows Security] dialog box, but select
     "-> Install this driver software anyway".

  j. The wizard will start copying files.

  k. Specify whether to share the printer.
     Select [Do not share this printer], and then click the [Next] button."

  l. Make sure that "You've successfully added FIT FP-1000 Raster"is displayed, make settings for the default printer, 
     and then click the [Finish] button to end the wizard.
     "The [Print a test page] button will be displayed, so print a test page if necessary."

     ** Execute 5.1.1 Configuring the serial interface in case of Serial Interface connecting.
     ** Make sure that the printer is online when printing test pages.
     ** Notes on printing test pages
        - Test pages are printed according to the current printer driver settings.
        - To use a non-default paper size, change the settings before printing the test page.

 m. This completes the setup procedure for the printer driver.

When printing does not work, confirm and change the settings according to [6. When it is not possible to print].

4. Uninstalling the printer driver
===================================
The procedure for deleting the printer driver is as follows.

4.1 for XP, Server 2003, WEPOS, WEPOS 2009
--------------------------------------------
  a. Open the Printers folder.

       Windows XP Professional, WEPOS, WEPOS 2009:
         Select [Start] -> [Printers and Faxes].

       Windows XP Home Edition:
         Select [Start] -> [Control Panel] -> [Printer and Other Hardware],
         then from the [Printer and Other Hardware] dialog box,
         select [View installed printers or fax printers].

       Windows Server 2003:
         Select [Start] -> [Printers and Faxes].

  b. From [Printer Folder], select [FIT FP-1000 Raster], then select [File]
     -> [Delete].

  c. When the [Are you sure you want to delete the printer 'FIT FP-1000 Raster
     '] message is displayed, click [Yes].

  d. Select [File] -> [Server Properties].

  e. Click the [Drivers] tab, select [FIT FP-1000 Raster] under the 
     [Installed printer drivers] list, and then click [Remove].

  f. When the [Print Server Properties] dialog box is displayed, click
     [Yes].

  g. When the driver is deleted, click [Close] to exit the [Print Sever
     Properties] dialog box.

  h. Turn off the power of the printer, and then restart the computer.

  Now, deleting the printer driver is completed.

4.2 For Windows Vista, Server 2008
-----------------------------------
The following procedure assumes that User Account Control(UAC) is enabled
in the OS.

* The User Account Control dialog box may appear during the procedure.  
  The dialog box asks for your permission to continue.  Click [Continue].

* [Run as administrator] will not appear on the menu during the following
  procedure if:
  - User Account Control is disabled in the OS.
  - You are in a Windows Server 2008 environment,
    and you have logged in with a built-in account (Administrator).  

  a. Open the Printers folder.
       Windows Vista:
         Select [Start] -> [Control Panel] -> [Hardware and Sound]
         -> [Printers].

       Windows Server 2008:
         Select [Start] -> [Control Panel] -> [Printers].

  b. Select "FIT FP-1000 Raster" from [Printers],
     and then select [Organize] -> [Delete].

  c. Select [Yes] when the "Are you sure you want to delete the printer
     'FIT FP-1000 Raster' ?" window is displayed.

     ** If no other printer drivers have been installed, the "The default
        printer has been deleted" window will be displayed.
        Click the [Close] button.

     ** If this printer has been set as the default printer, the "The default
        printer has been deleted. Change your default printer."
        window will be displayed. Click the [Close] button.

  d. Select [Organize] -> [Layout] -> [Menu Bar].

  e. Select [File] -> [Run as administrator] -> [Server Properties].

  f. Click on the [Drivers] tab, and select "FIT FP-1000 Raster" from the
     list of [Installed printer drivers], and then click the [Remove] button.

  g. When the [Remove Driver And Package] window is displayed, select [Remove
     driver and driver package], and then click the [OK] button.

  h. When the "Deleting this printer driver package will remove it from the
     system.  Are you sure you want to delete FIT FP-1000 Raster ?" window
     is displayed, click the [Yes] button.

  i. When the [Remove Driver Package] window is displayed, click the [Delete]
     button.

  j. When the driver has been deleted, click the [OK] button, and then close
     the [Print Server Properties] dialog box by clicking the [Close].

  k. Turn the printer off, and then restart the computer.

  This completes the procedure for deleting the printer driver.

4.3 For Windows 7, Server 2008 R2
-----------------------------------
  The following procedure assumes that User Account Control(UAC) is enabled in the OS.

  ** The User Account Control dialog box may appear during the procedure.  
     The dialog box asks for your permission to continue.  Click [Yes].

  ** "Click the [Change Driver Settings] button" will not appear on the menu during the following
     procedure if:
            - User Account Control is disabled in the OS.
            - You are in a Windows Server 2008 R2 environment,and you have logged 
              in with a built-in account (Administrator).


  a. Open the Printers folder.
     Select [Start]  [Devices and Printers].

  b. Select [FIT FP-1000 Raster] in [Priters and Faxes] area , and click [Remove device].

  c. The [Are you sure you want to remove this device ? 'FIT FP-1000 Raster']
     dialog box is displayed. Click [Yes].

  d. Select "Fax" or "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" in [Priters and Faxes] part , 
     and click [Print server properties].

  e. Click the [Drivers] tag, and click [Change Driver Settings].

  f. Select [FIT FP-1000 Raster] in the list of [Installed printer drivers], and then click [Remove].

  g. The [Remove Driver And Package] screen is displayed. Select [Remove driver and driver package]
     and click [OK].

  h. The [Deleting this printer driver package will remove it from the system. 
     Are you sure you want to delete 'FIT FP-1000 Raster' ? ] dialog box is displayed. Click, [Yes].

  i. When [Remove driver and driver package] is displayed in [Remove Driver Package] dialog box, 
     Click [Delete].

  j. When deletion of the driver is completed, click [OK]. 
     Click [Close] to exit the [Print Server Properties] dialog.

  k. Turn off the power of the printer and restart the computer.

This completes the procedure for deleting the printer driver.

5. Setting method of the printer driver
========================================

5.1 Printer Properties
-----------------------
You can configure custom settings for paper and ports 
(such as the serial interface) in the printer properties dialog box.
To open the printer properties dialog box, follow the procedure below.

  a. Open the Printers folder.

       Windows XP Professional, WEPOS, WEPOS 2009:
         Select [Start] -> [Printers and Faxes].

       Windows XP Home Edition:
         Select [Start] -> [Control Panel] -> [Printer and Other Hardware],
         then from the [Printer and Other Hardware] dialog box, select [View 
         installed printers or fax printers].

       Windows Server 2003:
         Select [Start] -> [Printers and Faxes].

       Windows Vista:
         Select [Start] -> [Control Panel] -> [Hardware and Sound]
         -> [Printers].

       Windows Server 2008:
         Select [Start] -> [Control Panel] -> [Printers].

       Windows 7, Sever 2008 R2:
         Select [Start] -> [Devices and Printers].

  b. Right-click [FIT FP-1000 Raster],
       XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008, WEPOS, WEPOS 2009:
         Select [Properties].
       Windows 7, Server 2008 R2:
         Select [Printer Properties]

     ** In a Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 environment,
        [Run as administrator] may appear when you right-click
        "FIT FP-1000 Raster."  
        If so, select [Run as administrator] - [Properties].
        If the User Account Control dialog box appears, select [Continue].


The following sections describe how to configure the serial interface 
and custom paper settings in the printer properties dialog box.


5.1.1 Configuring the serial interface
---------------------------------------
  a. Open the Printers folder.  
     Then, open the [FIT FP-1000 Raster Properties] dialog box.

  b. Click the [Ports] tab, and select the port (COMx:) connected to
     the printer.

     ** The number "x" at the end of the COMx string is a port number.

  c. Click the [Configure Port] button.

  d. Specify the following items in the dialog box for the [Port Settings],
     and then click the [OK] button:

       - Bits per second : 115200
       - Data bits       : 8
       - Parity          : None
       - Stop bits       : 1
       - Flow control    : Hardware

  e. Click [Apply].  Then, click [OK] to close the
     [FIT FP-1000 Raster Properties] dialog box.


5.1.2 Configuring custom paper settings
----------------------------------------
The printer driver supports custom paper settings, 
which enable printing on paper of different sizes.
To configure custom paper settings, use one of the following methods:

  Note 1: The paper size created from [Server Properties] is invalid.
          Create the paper size as follows.

  a. Open the Printers folder.  
     Then, open the [FIT FP-1000 Raster Properties] dialog box.

  b. Click the [Custom Paper] tab

  c. Select the [Create a New Paper] checkbox, then enter the paper name into
     the [Paper Name] field.  The paper name can have a unique name.

  d. Select the appropriate values in [Paper Type] and [Unit],
     and enter values for [S1],[S2],[S3],[S4],[S5],[L],[R],[T], and [B].

     ** If you change the value in [Unit], an operational error of 0.1 mm
        may occur. If so, retry the setting.

  e. Click the [Save] button.
     Custom paper you created is displayed in [Paper].

  f. Click the [OK] button to close the [FIT FP-1000 Raster Properties]
     dialog box.

5.2 Printing Preferences
-------------------------
Use the Printing Preferences dialog box to specify the various print functions
(paper cutting and barcode printing) provided with the printer driver.
To open the Printing Preferences dialog box:

  a. Open the Printers folder.

  b. Right-click [FIT FP-1000 Raster], and select [Printing Preferences].
     Alternatively, select 
       [Properties] - [General] tab - [Printing Preferences], or
       [Printer Properties] - [General]tab - [Preferences].

You can also open the Printing Preferences dialog box from an application
to configure print settings.
(For example, click the [Properties] button in the Print dialog box.)

* The procedure for making such settings from an application
  depends on the software specifications of the application.

* In some cases, the paper setting of application software may take priority
  over the setting of the [Page Settings] tab depending on application   
  software in use.

* Before printing, make sure that the paper size settings
  in the application are the same as those in the printer driver's document
  properties.

* For details of each setting item of the printer driver, refer to the Help
  of the printer driver.

6. When it is not possible to print
====================================

6.1 Serial, USB and LAN interface
--------------------------------------------
 (1) Please confirm that an interface cable is connected. 

 (2) Please confirm that the printer is switched on(When it was already
     switched on, please switch on the printer again) .

 (3) When a printer state becomes the offline, in the following procedures,
     please make a printer online. 

     a. Open the Printers folder.
        For details on how to open the Printers folder,
        see Item (1) in Section 5.1.

     b. Windows XP, Server2003, WEPOS, WEPOS 2009: 
          When click the right button of the "FIT FP-1000 Raster" printer
          and it was displayed with [Use Printer Online], please click 
          [Use Printer Online]. 

        Windows Vista, Server 2008:
          When click the right button of the "FIT FP-1000 Raster" printer
          and click [Run as administrator], and it was displayed with
          [Use Printer Online], please click [Use Printer Online]. 

        Windows 7, Server 2008 R2:
          Select [FIT FP-1000 Raster], and click [See what's printing].
          When click [Printer] and checked [Use Printer Offline], 
          please click and uncheck [Use Printer Offline].

6.2 USB interface

Depending on environment, there is the case that USB ports are different. 
According to the following procedure, change the setting of the printer
driver, and print a test page. 

 (1) Display a [FIT FP-1000 Raster Properties].
     For details on how to open the [FIT FP-1000 Raster Properties],
     see Item (1)(2) in Section 5.1.

 (2) Click the [Ports] tab.

 (3) "USBxxx" is a port of the USB. Select the USB port where is unused a
     printer,and click [Apply]. 

 (4) Switch off the printer. 

 (5) Switch on the printer. 

 (6) Click a tag [General], and please click [Print Test Page]. 

 (7) A test page is printed.
