Smart Defrag 3 is a super disk defrag tool designed for maximum hard disk performance with millions of users worldwide. Based on the new generation disk defrag engine and "Boot Time Defrag" technology, Smart Defrag 3 is created with the world's leading defragmentation ability, enabling your computer to run at top speed with the most stability. "Automatic Defrag" feature ensures Smart Defrag 3 to work automatically and quietly in the background on your PC, keeping your hard disk running at its top performance. “Defrag and Prioritize Files” will improve your PC's performance by defragmenting and re-arranging files on your disks.
This guide will help you be familiar with Smart Defrag 3 quickly.

Skin: You can quickly choose your favorite Skin for Smart Defrag from Classic, Green, and White.
More Settings: Click this button to view the dropdown menu including Settings, User Manual, Technical Support, and About.
We will introduce Settings in detail in the last part Settings .
Here lists the general information of all your disks, including information below:
a) List all the disks on your computer and you can right click on the disk to remark the disk type from SSD to HDD or from SSD to HDD manually, if Smart Defrag 3 does not recognize it correctly.
b) Give you information regarding all the disks’ free/total size, file system, and their status for Automatic Defrag and Boot Time defrag. You can change the status of Automatic Defrag and Boot Time Defrag easily by clicking on the button for the related disk.
c) Also provide the option to add file or folder for defrag.
Here lists the main function of this program: State, Automatic Defrag, Boot Time Defrag, Report, and Action Center. We will introduce this part in detail later in Functions Screens.
At the bottom:Here is the latest news that lists promotions, program update news, etc. from IObit. If you do not want see the latest news, just click on Hide latest news to hide it.
Note: You can enlarge and narrow the interface by putting your mouse on the screen edge, and then dragging the arrow that appears.
Defrag Method: Tick the disk you want to defragment. And there are four defrag methods for you to choose by clicking the drop-down button:
a) Defrag Only helps you defragment the fragmented files.
b) Defrag and Fast Optimize helps you defragment the fragmented files and fast organize disk data to eliminate blank space for better disk performance.
c) Defrag and Fully Optimize helps you defragment the fragmented files and fully organize disk data to eliminate blank space for maximum disk performance.
d) Defrag and Prioritize Files (Slow) intelligently prioritizes disk data for maximum performance and long-lasting data contiguity. Please note that this process may take some time.
Analyze Method: Tick the disk you want to analyze and choose the Analyze methods follows:
a) Quick Analyze analyzes your disks quickly
b) Deep Analyze analyzes your disks deeply and cleans your disk junks at the same time.
We also provide an optional advanced function, which enables you to (Shut down, Sleep or Hibernate) your computer after defragmentation. You only need to choose the operation and then tick the checkbox.
There are two ways to turn on/off this function for each disk, you can click ON/OFF under Automatic Defrag, or tick/untick the box in front of “Enable Automatic Defrag on this volume”.
Click Configure to choose more optional settings for Automatic Defrag to your preference.
Also, you have two ways to turn on/off this function for each disk, you can click ON/OFF under Boot Time Defrag, or tick/untick the box in front of “Enable Boot Time Defrag on this volume”.
Moreover, you can click Configure to customize the frequency of Boot Time Defrag. You can choose one frequency or customize it by dragging the slider.
Report displays Total Files && Directories, Fragments, and Fragmentation Rate. And you can click “View reports” to see all your defrag history logs from the day you installed Smart Defrag 3.
Action Center enables you to operate IObit other products quickly. You can run them easily by clicking “Scan Now” behind each product. If the programs are not installed or outdated, clicking on Fix all button will install or update them automatically. By the way, Advanced Mobile Care is not installed on your PC, it just tells you the good news that you can get this up-to-date mobile security app from IObit. At the same time, you can click "Hide Action Center" button in the middle of the screen to hide Action Center. If you click "Hide Action Center", Action Center will not be displayed.
Click More Settings icon on the top right of the main screen and select Settings to open the Settings window.
General Settings: Tick the checkbox before each option and click Apply and OK to set the settings to your preference.
Automatic Defrag: You can drag the slider under Start Auto Defrag when system idle exceeds X minutes to configure the time limitation and drag the slider under Pause Auto Defrag when resource usage exceeds x% to configure the limitation, too. Please click Apply and OK button to save the configuration.
Scheduled Defrag: You can turn on/off scheduled defrag by clicking Off/ON button. And choose the Action and select Volume you want to defragment under Method in this section to set your personal scheduled scan. Please click Apply and OK button to save the configuration.
Boot Time Defrag: You can choose one frequency or customize the Boot Time Defrag and configure the Max Files under Log Files. Please click Apply and OK button to save the configuration.
Disk Cleanup: Disk Cleanup under Deep Analyze can help you find and clean disk junks to release more space, accelerate the access of system files and improve defragmentation. You can tick and untick the checkbox to decide whether to clean the object or not.
Exclude List: If you do not want to analyze or defragment some files and folders including their sub-folders, you can click Add File or Add Folder to add those files and folders including their sub-folders to the "Exclude List". All the items added and listed in the Exclude List will not be analyzed and defragmented/optimized/prioritized.
Disk Map Color: We provide the option Enable accessible disk map for color-challenged for the color blindness who want to see the Map more visible.
